For more than 100 years the periptero or kiosk has played a central if not vital role in Greek life. The number of periptera has fallen by more than half in the past 15 years. This books looks briefly at the reasons for this decline and goes on to include a collection of photographs taken by David Gibson in various parts of Greece in the early 1980s.
